It’s National Infant Immunization Week!

National Infant Immunization Week highlights the importance of protecting children two years and younger from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Research consistently shows that healthcare professionals are the most trusted source of vaccine information for parents. We encourage you to use this opportunity to emphasize the importance of timely vaccination.

Dr. Mayssa Abuali, Immunization Program Medical Director, recommends discussing vaccines with families through active listening, transparency, and empathy. To keep infants protected, “prioritize vaccines that have falling coverage rates according to recent CDC NIS data, such as the hepatitis B, rotavirus, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), and pneumococcal conjugate (PCV) vaccines, as well as other immunizations that prevent infant hospitalizations, such as RSV and influenza.”

Our Vaccine Facts webpage can support clinicians in conversations with parents of infants and newborns. Our Grow Up Guide is also a resource for clinicians and patients when discussing the importance of vaccines for a healthy childhood.

We appreciate your partnership in keeping Philadelphians healthy!
