According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, influenza levels nationwide are at their highest since the peak of the 2009 swine flu pandemic. Nationally, CDC reports 98 pediatric deaths this season. This season is now classified as a high severity season for all age groups (children, adults, older adults) for the first time since 2017-2018 with an estimate of 21,000 deaths from flu so far this season.
