For certain vaccines, the CDC may reach out to your organization to verify whether the correct quantities and vaccine products ordered were delivered. The CDC conducts this verification process to ensure that vaccines shipped directly from manufacturers are delivered in accordance with CDC’s vaccine contract. 

Why?

Most vaccines distributed through CDC vaccine programs are shipped by CDC’s centralized vaccine distributor, McKesson. However, varicella and MMR-varicella vaccines from Merck and COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer are shipped directly from manufacturers to provider sites. 

When?

CDC should reach out within one week of vaccine delivery.

How?

CDC will contact a random sample of sites that have recently received these vaccines. CDC will attempt to verify vaccine delivery status by phone. If CDC is unable to reach your organization after two phone call attempts, CDC will follow up via email.
