28 Apr 2026 End of Influenza Season
Influenza test positivity in Philadelphia has fallen to below 3% for both influenza A and B, indicating the end of influenza season. Therefore, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health recommends stopping influenza immunization for all eligible patients.
- Vaccination against influenza may continue based on clinical judgment.
- Unused vaccines may not be returned early. Keep all influenza vaccines until their expiration date passes and you are able to complete a vaccine return.
Unused Immunizations
If you have unexpired doses of VFC or VFAAR influenza vaccine, do not discard them. These doses can be safely stored until their expiration date. Influenza vaccine is seasonal and will expire in June.
