Updated ACIP Recommendations
On September 18-19, 2025, CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to recommend:
- Any person 6 months and up can receive the COVID-19 vaccine after discussing it with their healthcare provider under a “shared clinical decision-making” model.
Clinical Recommendations
Immunization decisions should continue to be made using shared decision-making between clinicians, patients, and their families.
- Persons with certain underlying medical conditions should receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
- Patients who do not meet high-risk criteria may choose to receive the COVID-19 vaccine after speaking to their healthcare provider.
- Infants under 6 months of age experience the highest COVID-19 hospitalization rates. There is no approved COVID-19 vaccine for infants under 6 months of age, making maternal vaccination the only way to protect this age group.
