{"id":8249,"date":"2023-09-14T16:28:41","date_gmt":"2023-09-14T20:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vaccines.phila.gov\/?post_type=lsvr_notice&#038;p=8249"},"modified":"2024-09-11T15:50:58","modified_gmt":"2024-09-11T19:50:58","slug":"pediatric-pneumococcal-vaccine-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vaccines.phila.gov\/index.php\/pediatric-pneumococcal-vaccine-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Pediatric Pneumococcal Vaccine Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Pediatric Pneumococcal Vaccine Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As a reminder, Prevnar 20 (PCV20, Pneumococcal 20-valent Conjugant Vaccine; NDC 00005-2000-10) is now available to order for your VFC eligible patients.\u00a0<\/strong>Prevnar 13 (PCV13) is no longer available to order through the VFC program.\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/vaccines.phila.gov\/index.php\/notices\/new-vaccine-product-available-through-vfc-prevnar-20\/\" target=\"_blank\">Please read our previous advisory on these changes.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To transition from PCV13 to Vaxnuvance (PCV15) or PCV20, providers can either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Continue to use any remaining Prevnar 13 vaccines still on-hand through the expiration date<\/strong>&nbsp;before transiting to PCV15 or PCV20.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Return remaining doses of PCV13 after receiving a supply of VFC PCV15 or PCV20.<\/strong>&nbsp;Providers who choose to return PCV13 doses before the expiration date will not be penalized.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/vaccines.phila.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/PhilaVax-Returns-Job-Aid-11.17.2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instructions on how to return vaccine can be found here<\/a>.
